Man can’t live on
AI alone.

100% automation is moldy. Don’t fall for it.

A company replaced their entire workforce with AI. It didn’t go well.

dYeah you read it right. Klarna was brazen enough to layoff 700 employees and have them replaced by AI.

The Swedish fintech giant who tried to go all in on AI found itself at the bottom of the pit after their service quality dipped. I mean, the fact that they believed AI could take over everything in the first place is quite jarring.

In 2023, Klarna’s CEO Sebastian Siemiatowski, proudly declared his company as an AI-first organization and volunteered his company as OpenAI’s favourite guinea pig. That mindset alone might have led the crash to be honest. So you know the drill: hiring freeze, mass layoffs, etc. They made AI take over customer service, marketing, and content creation. And the results are a total whack. As expected. The reorg quickly escalated to a massive customer dissatisfaction because of the lack of human interaction.

Siemiatowski confessed that while AI was a lot cheaper, it delivered a much lower quality output, which led to losses. This pushed them to bring back the human agents they laid off to make sure their customers could always speak to a real person. Sounds like someone’s toxic ex.

AI is not intuitive. Humans are.
Customers are humans.
Humans have human problems.
Therefore?
You do the math. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Look, we get it. Cutting costs is sexy. But AI was never meant to replace humans. It was meant to help us automate repetitive tasks so we could use our brain cells for more important, impactful things. And Klarna’s little experiment proved that trying to automate everything is a trap.

AI is a tool to help with the workload, but will not and cannot replace human judgment, empathy, and creativity. It struggles to beat humans at a fraction on human interaction (duh) and complex problem-solving.

To all AI extremists, sorry to burst your bubble, but it is not here to save the world. Don’t ask for more than that.

As we always say, the future of work is a good synergy between AI and humans. The goal is to make AI work for your teams, not replace them.

Focus on human-friendly AI implementation and streamline your processes. Instead of wiping out your team, upskill them. Show them how to work with  AI that benefits them and your business. Don’t just use AI for the clout. Follow this and keep your business from sinking.

Build a workflow that makes AI do all the important repetitive stuff. The thinking, feeling, and problem solving? Leave it to the humans.

AI at work? Most teams are just kinda winging it.

Still stuck in their ChatGPT era while AI tools are reshaping whole industries. We created Tuna Can to help humans benefit from AI.

AI literacy isn’t just fancy prompts. It’s knowing what tool to use, what to ask, and how to turn the output into something that doesn’t scream “a sad robot wrote this.”
